Unfortunately it is no easier to clean windows with 3M tint film than without. That said here are some practical cleaning tips and tricks using eco-friendly methods and how to save yourself from unwanted mistakes during the process.
Let’s start with the tools you will need.
White vinegar
Water
Spray bottle
Small bucket
Microfibre cloth
Mop/ window scrubber ( not abrasive)
Sponge
Squeegee
Clean towel
To clean 3M Tint or Security film follow these simple steps:
1 Stay ahead of the suns rotation. Avoid the windows facing the sun. Otherwise, the solution will dry out quickly because the glass will be hot and you will have to repeat the cleaning process.
2 Move or remove curtains and blinds out of the way.
3 Mix an eco-friendly window solution of one part warm water and one part white vinegar. Fill up one spray spray bottle and a small bucket with the solution.
4 Wipe down the frame first.
5 Spray down the window from top to bottom.
6 Scrub the window gently with a sponge. Do not use any abrasives.
7 Use a squeegee to scrap the solution off the glass with a fluid motion from top to bottom.
8 Use a clean towel or paper cloths to wipe the edges of the frames to ensure there isn’t any water dripping.
9 Wipe the blade of the squeegee from time to time to avoid streaks on the 3M film.
10 Dry the window with a microfibre cloth for a gleaming appearance before moving to the next window.
